The Thrill of The Radical Challenge Championship

Officially known as the fastest single-make sportscar championship in the UK, the Radical Challenge returns in 2021 to offer drivers the opportunity to showcase their talent. The championship is factory supported by Radical, a globally recognised sports prototype brand which specialises in producing racing and track cars. Over the past two decades, Radical has sold over 2,000 of these cars, making it one of the largest producers in the world.

To sell that many racing cars, Radical ensures that buyers get a thrilling and fun package to drive. Additionally, the championship races supported by the company are also an avenue to get avid and experienced racers to compete against the best and raise their skill levels.

The ability to drive at some of the best circuits in the country is why drivers such as Chris Short, Concept Resourcing CEO, have taken to the Radical Challenge Championship with committed enthusiasm. In 2019, Mr Short won the Fangio Trophy and placed second overall in the Radical SR1 Cup.

The Challenge

The Radical Championship offers several race formats and competition levels to satisfy everyone, from beginners to experienced drivers. The ‘spec racer’ formats ensure all participants have an equal advantage in terms of car mechanics, so the competition is focused on bringing out the best in drivers. Radical sportscars are lightweight and built for racing, delivering faster lap times than many other race cars.

In 2021, the Championship will be held on some of the UK’s best circuits, in addition to Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The race weekends, also known as Radical Weekends, will bring racers from the longstanding Challenge Championship and the SR1 Cup events while introducing Club Sprint and Club Enduro Cups to raise the spirit of friendship and competition among participants.

New Features on the SR3 XX

The latter two events are specially designed to give self-run and privateer competitors an opportunity to compete while being flexible in juggling other responsibilities. These two events are beneficial for the amateur driver looking to gain experience.

The 2021 Challenge format will see the re-introduction of the Masters Class in the UK, and the turbocharged Radical SR10 race car will also be part of the available models. Through the various sprint races, drivers can compete solo or as part of two-man teams, with the latter being able to share the race time equally.

Drivers will begin on Saturday morning with qualifying and two 25-minute sprint races, while Sunday’s slate will introduce a 15-minute qualifying run to determine the driver order for the day’s endurance race.

Concept Resourcing Charity Work: Supporting Midlands Air Ambulance

Every second counts in an emergency, and for individuals involved in traumatic incidents in remote locations, having an emergency care crew reach them in time can make a huge difference. This is the goal for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC), which funds and operates three air ambulances that provide services within the six Midlands counties. The charity also has two critical care cars, with a critical care paramedic on-board each vehicle.

MAAC’s mission is to ensure that through its helicopter-led emergency medical services (HEMS), patients receive lifesaving intervention and pre-hospital care . However, operating and maintaining this service requires funds, to the tune of £10 million yearly, to keep the three aircraft and lifesaving service running. The charity doesn’t rely on funding from the National Lottery or UK Government to operate and mostly leans on the generous support of individuals, donors and businesses such as Concept Resourcing.

Fundraising

Led by Chris Short, Concept Resourcing CEO, the company has continually raised funds through various activities to ensure Midlands Air Ambulance Charity continues providing services. One of the means through which it raised funds was by taking part in a charity skydive event that raised £4,000 in support of MAAC.

Consultants from Concept relied on the experience and guidance of the team from Hinton Sky Diving Centre to make a 13,000-foot jump from a plane. While it was certainly an exhilarating experience for the consultants, they had sufficient time to undertake a safety precaution drill and understand the critical skydiving actions.

This skydiving event is just one way that Concept Resourcing has shown its support towards Midlands Air Ambulance Charity over the years. In 2016, 16 employees of the recruitment firm participated in an obstacle course challenge to raise £2,500. As a corporate partner, Concept Resourcing was committed to doing all it could to raise funds and ensure the air ambulance mission continued its work in providing lifesaving services.

In addition to participating in fundraising events, Concept Resourcing has also supported MAAC’s Charity Ball and Recognition Awards. In 2016, tickets to the event sold out due to popular demand, while in 2017, close to 500 guests helped raise £142,000 towards the charity.

At the time, the amount was enough to cater to the equivalent of 57 air ambulance missions. Awards were presented to lifesaving aircrew, inspirational former patients and loyal fundraisers. The night’s Special Recognition Award was given to Paralympic gold medallist Sir Lee Pearson.
